Principal analyst Mike Paxton said that while the cable TV industry has always relied upon MPEG-based transport to send digital video signals, IP is a cheaper and more efficient technology.
The In-Stat also reports that the number of cable STBs with integrated modems will double between 2009 and 2014. It also indicates that the European and Latin American demand for high-definition cable STBs is growing.
