Globecomm to produce more Army modems

The U.S. Army has exercised a $4.3 million contract option with Globecomm for the continued production of the Joint IP Modem for satellite communications.
Exercise of the option brings the base contract for the JIPM project work to $22.8 million, the company said.
A total of $62.4 million in options remain to be exercised over the next five years.
Globecomm Systems Inc. is a provider of end-to-end, value-added, satellite-based communication products, services and solutions. In 2007 it was awarded a contract from the U.S. Army's Communications -- Electronic Life Cycle Management Command to provide the JIPM for use on military and commercial satellites for demand-based satellite communication transport services for military forces.
Globecomm is the prime contractor for the JIPM effort, providing program and contract management. It is responsible for the network system and modem design, including the integration of DVB-S2/DVB-RCS open standard IP technology
